Request a free Let's Encrypt certificate in DirectAdmin

DirectAdmin integrates Let's Encrypt directly into the control panel, so you can secure a domain without purchasing a commercial certificate or editing server configuration files by hand.

1. Authenticate to DirectAdmin

1. Open your DirectAdmin login page—typically example.com:2222, replacing example.com with your server hostname or domain.

2. Sign in with your DirectAdmin username and password.

2. Navigate to SSL Certificates

1. Under Account Manager, click the SSL Certificates icon.

3. Request and install the certificate

1. Click Free & automatic certificate from Let's Encrypt.

2. Choose the target domain from the dropdown.

3. Optionally tick additional subdomains to include on the same certificate. The root domain is always covered; only add subdomains that already resolve to this server's IP.

   Note

   Including a subdomain that does not point to the server will cause the Let's Encrypt validation to fail for the entire request.

4. Click Save to submit the order.

5. Within seconds DirectAdmin installs the certificate and displays a confirmation popup. No further manual steps are needed.

Let's Encrypt certificates are valid for 90 days. DirectAdmin renews them automatically before expiry, so you do not need to repeat this process every quarter.
