Upgrade WHMCS through Softaculous
Softaculous is the preferred upgrade path for WHMCS on PosaHosting shared hosting. The built-in WHMCS updater often hits PHP execution timeouts on shared environments; Softaculous replaces files server-side and finishes in seconds without relying on long-running PHP scripts.
1. Sign in and open Softaculous
-
Access cPanel or DirectAdmin with your hosting credentials.
PosaHosting shortcut
Open your control panel from My Account
-
Launch Softaculous Apps Installer from the dashboard.
2. Upgrade the existing installation
-
Click All Applications in the icon row at the top-right of the Softaculous interface:
-
Find your WHMCS row and click the Upgrade icon beside it.
-
Softaculous asks for your WHMCS admin folder name. Enter
adminunless you previously renamed that directory—use whatever custom name you chose during installation. -
Confirm with Upgrade. Softaculous downloads and applies the new version immediately.
-
After the upgrade completes, delete the
installfolder inside your WHMCS directory. Leaving it in place is a security risk and can block future updates.
