Upgrade WHMCS through Softaculous

Softaculous is the preferred upgrade path for WHMCS on PosaHosting shared hosting. The built-in WHMCS updater often hits PHP execution timeouts on shared environments; Softaculous replaces files server-side and finishes in seconds without relying on long-running PHP scripts.

1. Sign in and open Softaculous

  1. Access cPanel or DirectAdmin with your hosting credentials.

Open your control panel from My Account

  2. Launch Softaculous Apps Installer from the dashboard.

2. Upgrade the existing installation

  1. Click All Applications in the icon row at the top-right of the Softaculous interface:

  2. Find your WHMCS row and click the Upgrade icon beside it.

  3. Softaculous asks for your WHMCS admin folder name. Enter admin unless you previously renamed that directory—use whatever custom name you chose during installation.

  4. Confirm with Upgrade. Softaculous downloads and applies the new version immediately.

  5. After the upgrade completes, delete the install folder inside your WHMCS directory. Leaving it in place is a security risk and can block future updates.
